Hello discoverers !! As we all know NOWRUZ, Parsi New Year is around, that is on 16th or 17th August 2017 and Festivities would be very much visible in the town during the whole of this week. So, to mark this celebration memorable and give us a toothsome start of the new year, DINSHAWS XPRESS CAFE which aims to promote authentic Parsi Cuisine has come up with Special Parsi food menu.
As the owners of the outlet aim at total quality management, they organized a food tasting and feedback session for Pune Food & Lifestyle bloggers. Before starting the session the PR Rashika Chanchalani enlightened us about the recent change in management and working style as there are new owners and chef on the panel now.

So here is the glimpse of delicacies which were part of tasting session:
These were served as welcome drink to us. This is included in the beverages and mocktails section of their present menu.
- Masala lemonade
- Raspberry Mojito
- Masala thumbs up
- Ratnagiri Aam panna
This fancy looking appetizer was a fusion of Bread, French fries and cheese baked well and served with chilly flakes and oregano. I like the twist created by potatoes in traditional cheese bread. I would definitely recommend you to try this.
These are regular French fries spiced up in peri peri flavour. These were served with 3 different dips: spicy mayo, cheese sauce and mustard mayo. The good thing was they were very well fried which kept them crisp and yummy evening after 30 minutes of serving.

I am usually not so fond of cutlet in fact at times I do try to avoid it because it is deep fried and I can actually feel that extra oil even in one single bite. So, according to me, not everyone can neatly craft that. But, here at Dinshaws Express Cafe, this came second on my recommendation list. It was very well stuffed with vegetables and as you can see in the picture too it was completely oil free.
Do try this guy if you are looking for some good starter in veg section.
Next food on my plate was Dhansak, originated among the Parsi Zoroastrian community, it combines elements of Persian and Gujarati cuisine. Main ingredients in this are: Lentils, vegetables, spices, cumin seeds, ginger, garlic etc. To simply, it is a thick daal with vegetables served with brown rice. They do not have much variety in the main course for vegetarians, which I mentioned in feedback. But then we all know Parsi cuisine is more of non-vegetarians’ court.
A variation of the English custard, this sweet treat features condensed milk in addition to milk, eggs and sugar and is laced with cardamom and nutmeg – for that special Parsi feel. Here Chef ……..added a skinny layer of caramel giving it tinch of sweetness. For those who don’t have sweet tooth and like having mild flavor desserts, this will work well.
There was a good variety for non-vegetarian serving too, which were tasted by fellow food bloggers. Here I am sharing pictures of those too:
Apart from this Dinshaws Express Cafe Icecream and shake will be available on their regular menu.
So guys do not miss these lip-smacking delicacies from Parsi Cuisine. Even if you have not previously tried this, go and try it now. Trust me you will love it. Do share your experience in the comments section below.
